Initial questions

Which ICT-based competencies are required today for a successful work performace?

What does the future expect of these new competencias or profiles?

How do we prepare the new generations for this changing scenario?

How is this change incorporated into University curriculums?

How do specific and crosscurricular competencies link within a context of a larger degree of public responsibility for individual actions?

How has changed the profile of the XXIst century job seeker?

How do competencies bring closer the interests of firms and workers?

Work Group description

The competency approach has been ingrained in the public discourse (academic, institutional, educational). However, very little discussion has been raised about the scope of its theoretical background, the definition of working profiles, the methodology for developing competencies, the need for ICT-based competencies in the XXIst century, organizacional experiences when applying this approach, and how to develop future digital literacy campaigns.

Even though digital competencies could be somewhat standardized, they'd be functional for subjects with soft competenices (e.g. listening, asertiviness, emotional intelligence, collaborating, Leadership, ethic behavior). Likewise, the actual presence of these competencies in human resources career development policies is questioned, both in private and public settings.

The purpose of this group is to find a meeting point between theoretical knowledge, working practices and public ethics (positive social behaviour).
