Work Group description

The proposal of this Working Group is to encourage the discussion regarding the way lifestyles are being constructed in the contemporaneity, especially in articulation with the digital technologies. Lifestyles are here understood as the many ways subjects manifest their notion of belongness to specific groups or networks based on signs that communicate such specificities in terms of tastes, habits and preferences. The presence of the Internet in the lives of individuals and communities induces broad cultural transformations in varied areas of the contemporary world. The styles and the identities multiply in a complex set of networks in movement. Works that discuss how lifestyles are being displaced by the uses of the Internet will be welcome.
